FRESH EYES is an annual publication powered by GUP Magazine, featuring the best 100 emerging photography talent from Europe. GUP stands for 'Guide To Unique Photography' and it serves as a platform for the promotion of creative documentary and art photography. Since 2012, besides its quarterly magazine, GUP brings out an annual book - GUP New - that includes a concise portfolio of 100 selected talented photographers situated in The Netherlands. Through GUP New, many emerging photographers has been scouted and helped to undertake a successfull career. From 2019, GUP brings that concept also to a European Level with a new publication called FRESH EYES. In 2023, we introduced a new concept: FRESH EYES International. This worldwide Open Call invites photographers from across the globe to show us their vision and expertise in their chosen photographic field.

Submitting is free. Only if you are selected, the cost for participation is €395 euro (excl. VAT).

If your portfolio is selected for a feature in the magazine, you'll be asked for a fee of €395 excl. VAT. The organization does not make profit from the requested fees, which are invested in the production, design, and distribution of the magazines, print exhibition and launch event.   

Besides a 4 page feature in the annual GUP - FRESH EYES publication, we'll support you by sending out copies of the magazine to the industry (galleries, museums, agencies, etcetera) and promoting the book via our platform, social media channels, and at international art fairs and festivals. Alongside publishing books, we organize a print exhibition as part of the magazine launch event.

Submissions can only be made the form on our website.

• Images must be in low resolution and be between 500KB and 1MB each. (Each portfolio can weigh up to 10MB total);  

• Images must be in .jpg format;

• Submissions with less than 10 images will not be considered.

Yes, we only accept photos. Since the shape of FRESH EYES is a magazine, we think that the best content is the images. So pictures of installations, performance, books will not be taken into consideration. 

Yes, but one person will be the representative while filling out the submission form. In the Artist Statement, you should mention the Personal Information of the other(s).

Meaning: First & Last Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Nationality, Address (Address, City, State/Province, Zip/Postal Code, Country), Email Address, Phone Number, Student or Autodidact, Graduation year for Student / Starting year for Autodidact.

Yes, but please also mention your real name in the form.

All kinds of photography are welcome.

You can submit diptychs as two images but make it clear how the diptychs work, for example adding a scheme.
